The Dutch Kills Take a walk with me down Fascination Street, as I get to know the Brooklyn based indie rock band The Dutch Kills. In this episode, we chat about how the band got together, and how involved NYU was in the process. The Dutch Kills consists of: Julia (vocals / guitar), Maxine (bass), Alec (guitar), and Heather (drums). We also discuss NYC as a whole, improv, the N train, to Astoria, and some community rehearsal spaces for NYC bands. The members are from all over the US, so we talk about why they left their towns of Fayetteville, Minneapolis, and Wilmington. We do mention Dawson’s Creek (Joey & Pacey Forever!), before moving into their actual music. Their debut EP, called The Rot, was released last year, and their new single Cheap Love was released last month. Look for new singles to drop in a month or two but keep tuned to their channels for more updates and tour info. Also, if you have a time machine, go back to last week and check out their several unofficial shows at SXSW in Austin. The band does let me play their newest single Cheap Love, and it’s a BANGER!

Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know JoJo Garza. JoJo is the bass player for the Grammy winning Texican Rock band Los Lonely Boys. In this episode, we chat about how the Garza brothers got together and became a rock band. JoJo explains how his dad taught them all how to play nusic from a very early age. It doesn’t hurt that both sides of the family have music royalty and Tejano music icons. Of course we discuss their meteoric rise to fame with their 2003 mega hit song HEAVEN, and some of the amazing things that came with it’s success. JoJo shares some fun stories about meeting some of his music idols, and even a heart warming tale of Willie Nelson giving the Garza brothers the shirt off his back… sort of. Legendary singer / songwriter; Don is most known for his super smash hit AMERICAN PIE, which was released FIFTY YEARS AGO this year! In this episode, Don and I chat about: some of his songs, his new and upcoming projects, including: a new album of originals, a new album of covers, a new documentary, a play, a movie, and a new children’s book called “American Pie: A Fable” which drops in October. Then he tells us about the true story behind the hit song “Killing Me Softly”; which is not his song, but has a very interesting connection that I bet you didn’t know about. Don was kind enough to let me play some of his classic songs during this episode, as well as one of the covers off of his new album of covers called “Still Playin Favorites”. Moriah Formica
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Moriah Formica. Moriah is the lead singer and guitarist for the new rock band PLUSH. In this episode we chat about how she got pulled into music at a VERY early age, who her inspirations were and are, and how the overwhelming support from her parents has really helped her succeed and thrive in the music business. Moriah and her band mate collaborated on their version of Barracuda (By Heart), put it up on YouTube, and started getting attention from the right people. Shortly thereafter they added a couple more ladies and formed PLUSH. Since then; Plush has played with: Halestorm, Evanescence, Seether, Mammoth WVH, Daughtry, and Seven Dust. Plush is currently on tour supporting Seven Dust for a second time. Moriah tells me what she writes about, or rather WHO she writes about in her lyrics. I made a VERY embarrassing faux pas and look like an ass, and I play the new single from Plush’s self titled debut album.
She also lets me play a song from her first EP as a solo artist when she was 13.

In this episode, we chat about how it’s going since he moved from Louisville, Kentucky to Tampa Bay, Florida a little over a year ago. Hugo Ferreira
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Hugo Ferreira from the rock band Tantric. The 2001 debut album from Tantric may actually be my favorite rock album to come out of the early 2000’s. I love this album so much! In this episode, Hugo and I chat about where he grew up and what got him into music. We talk about how he came to be paired with the rest of the original members of this band, and some of my favorite songs by them. Lastly, we discuss Tantric’s new album, and he let’s me play a song or two. 1 from an earlier album, and 1 off the new album (The Sum Of All Things).
